Discography
Change of Direction. New Albion NA 102 CD, 1999.
The music breathes and swells, sweeping the listener along within it... Fullman ultimately channels an entire orchestra through the Long String Instrument, conjuring up the ghosts of breathy didgeridoo, delicate mandolin, elusive Japanese koto, and more. Fifty five minutes flies. This is one of the most marvelous discoveries I have made all summer.
-Hilary Robinson, Motion Music, 1999
The quality of the sound has an endless character, approaching infinity. This is an example of new music... at its most singular and honest perspective. Body Music. XI 109, 1997.
...The epic-scale "Work for 4" and "Body Music" are 'ragas' of the post-industrial age, imbued with corrosive grace and savage elegance...
-Piero Scaruffi, Ide magazine, 1993
Five more astonishing compositions on long string sculpture-instruments, including the marvelously flowing "Work for 4," performed on a 145-foot-long string installation, already a modern classic. "Space Between" surprisingly produces some sounds normally associated with electronic music, and "Body Music" suggests a kind of celestial Delta-blues...
-"Blue" Jean Tyranny, All Music Guide, 2nd Edition
Having developed and refined techniques of composition for the instrument, she can draw paradoxical beauty from it. The pieces sound simple and complex at the same time... Overtones are abundant-in the foreground they form soaring lines, in the background they constitute rich timbres that hover and pulsate in the air. These may range from a sonorous ring to delicate harmonium-like chords.
